Description
This stunning ebonized and parcel-gilt Baroque-style box sofa, c. 1830’s, is a great example of the Dutch Baroque style. The playful hand-painted gold highlights against the black-lacquered wood and the coffered sides of square section emphasize the linear symmetrical form. Retaining its original jute webbing, bridling, and batting, it is ready for any fabric you choose. A remarkable feature is it can be disassembled for upholstery or travel. This outstanding box sofa will also blend beautifully with Biedermeier and Art Deco furnishings!
