Bugainvillea - Bugambilia side or coffee table
-
Description
BUGAMBILIA, the Mexican name, can be simply embellishing or fully functional tables or shelves. Presented individually or as a complex modular construction, they can be stacked with other BUGAMBILIAS to construct new compositions. A set of them can become a solid low center or coffee table, or they can be stacked and with two groups of three stacks built into a stunning high dining table. This stainless steel piece appears like a fragile, yet robust flower shape that reminds us of the bougainvillea, a typical three petal Mexican flower, used in Prehispanic medicine.? Bougainvillea trees can be found all over Mexico and, although we have become accustomed to seeing the grounds beautifully carpeted by them, their apparent simplicity hides the richness and perfection of Geometry.
The research of Cerisola is centered on the beauty of geometric constructive principles found in nature and how these systems can be applied to the design and fabrication of modular structures. The findings made are applied to the design of furniture, sculptures, playgrounds, lamps, toys and other daily life objects. The tables can be arranged in a myriad of ways and the user is encouraged to play. As Cerisola states: “The game is the engine of everything. For any human and creative activity it is fundamental to achieve a look from it”. Pedro Cerisola´s work is part of the permanent collection of the University Museum of Sciences UNIVERSUM in Mexico City and has been exhibited at the Museo Rufino Tamayo, Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City and the Franz Mayer Design Museum, among others.
* Please note: the price is without glass. It is more convenient and less costly for shipping and various glass choices can be taken individually by the clients. -
