Description
Very fine English gilt bronze 12-light chandelier, in the manner of Thomas Messenger of Birmingham, having chased foliate crown, over four chains supporting scrolled foliate arms, the similarly designed arms of two lengths and heights, the base with fluted and chased decoration and retaining much original gilding, circa 1830.
Thomas Messenger of Birmingham advertised the manufacture of “Chandeliers, tripods and lamps of every descriptions in bronze and or-molu” and opened a London branch in 1826. -
