Description
This dough bowl is truly the most beautiful dough bowl that I have ever seen. It transcends craft and becomes art. The form and design are classic Zuni dough bowl forms.
There is a blue padre bead affixed to the interior bottom after initial firing. It likely was affixed by the Zuni. The Zuni and other Pueblo Indians do not discuss anything that might imply ceremonial so we cannot say with certainty why this bead was attached to the pot.
As indicated above, this pot has a long firing crack that has been stabilized and overpainted. We have backlit and studied it extensively. -
