Laura Newman, an artist hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, currently resides and creates in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She pursued her education at esteemed institutions including Cooper Union, CalArts, and The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
Newman's solo exhibitions feature prominent venues such as James Fuentes in New York, Victoria Munroe Fine Arts, and The University of Connecticut in Storrs. Her recent group exhibitions include the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Letters Invitational Exhibition in New York, The Pursuit of Aesthetics at Morgan Lehman Gallery, and 10 X Relay at Indiana University in Columbus.
Her artistic accomplishments have garnered her numerous accolades, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Rome Prize, and the New York Foundation for the Arts, as well as residencies at MacDowell, VCCA, Yaddo, and The American Academy in Rome.
Newman's work has been featured in several respected publications, including The Brooklyn Rail, ArtCritical.com, The Drawer--Revue de Dessin, Artforum, The New York Times, and Bomb Magazine. She currently serves as a Professor of Art at Vassar College, where she continues to inspire the next generation of artists.
