Description
This beautiful desk, beautifully finished in kingwood, leather and gilt bronze, is a fantastic piece of 19th Century French design in the Louis XV style. Elegant, beautifully crafted and yet with a cool simplicity, this will make an excellent piece for an antique-inspired study or drawing room.
The bureau plat is set on four cabriole legs, each mounted with gilt bronze ornamentation showing hoof feet at the bottom, and Classical style masks at the top. There are further gilt bronze mounts around the desk's skirting, including grotesque masks at either side as well as shells and acanthus leaf motifs. On the front side there are three drawers, each of which is separately lockable. The table is topped with rich leather and mounted around its rim with a chic plain gilt bronze frame. - More Information
