A massive giltwood pier mirror with its original gold leaf surface applied on very complex turnings and carvings. The original mirror plate has been replaced for better visibility. Firmly attributed by familial narrative to the shop of Isaac Platt in New York City, its turnings and foliate elements may also be deemed Bostonian of the same era. Important to note: this specimen period mirror may be hung vertically as shown, or alternatively wired and hung horizontally; over a mantel, sideboard or other appropriately scaled case furniture.
