Description
Pair of early book stands carved as doves mounted upon orbs, from the late 17th or early 18th century. Books are laid open across the backs of the doves’ wings, supported by the giltwood scrolled element atop the doves’ tails (as shown in the images). The pair most likely were made to accommodate New and Old Testament readings in a church. Sold together and priced as a pair for $7,800.
