Art Deco Silver Plate Pitcher by Lurelle Guild for The International Silver Co.

Description
This stunning Art Deco cocktail pitcher was realized by the renowned architect, industrial designer and interior designer Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild in America, circa 1940. It features a cylindrical body with three sets of etched horizontal banding towards its base; a streamlined rattan wrapped handle; and an elegant undulating spout. The piece also comes with its original cocktail stirrer with a tapered handle and a stylized oak leaf embellishment at its nadir. In 1934-1935, Lurelle Guild exhibited his designs for a cocktail shaker and vegetable dish at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guild's designs for the International Silver Company are included in the museum collections of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among many others. Guild's works for the International Silver Company has been in museum exhibitions including the touring exhibition "American Modern, 1925-1940: Design for a New Age" (2001–2002) as well as the touring exhibition "Modernism in American silver: 20th century design show"(2005–2007). This piece is inscribed and signed "Lurelle Guild", and is in excellent vintage condition.
