Eagle Punched Tin Pie Safe
-
Description
A cherry and yellow pine pie safe from southwestern Virginia, circa 1830 in old blue paint over the original red wash. The original tins echo the words of statesman Daniel Webster, “Liberty and Union, now and forever” from his 1830 Senate speech on the idea of national over state sovereignty, considered by many to be the most important speech ever delivered in the Senate. A rare survivor with beautiful tins.
