Description
Kenneth Strobl (early 20th c.)
Hungarian
BIRTH OF VENUS
Signed: “K. Strobl”, ca. 1920
Bronze, mounted on a circular wood base
Fine condition, minor wear
Relatively little is known about Strobl. He was among a large group of European sculptors during the early 20th c. who were extremely talented but unrecognized. This example, “Birth of Venus”, with a brown patinated surface was a popular Neo-classical subject matter and captured successfully by Strobl. -
