Description
Sunny and melancholy at the same time, this highly atmospheric painting depicts a family happily ensconced along a river bank, though at the centre is a male youth who is looking pensively into the distance. Dated 1938, this may come from the period when Felix Meseck worked in Berlin and in Poland. Many of his paintings were destroyed during World War II, so this is a rare survivor.
