A primitive provincial slatted-elm Suzhou coffer on turned tassel feet, with a lockable hatch door and domed corner tops. It may have been originally intended for a culinary purpose; and/or for contents having some value, as it was lockable. Ideally repurposed today as a fireside kindling box or for stashing magazines and newspapers. May also be used as a 'low' table, sofa front or lounge side; with a thick glass slab top.
