  • Description
    Rare and Important Eighteenth Century South German Bombe Gaming Box consisting of Backgammon and Chess designed in a parquetry and marquetry of various burr and exotic woods. The whole in a most artistic fashion, picturing to the top a square with a marquetry frightened stag amongst a forest, cornered by four inlays of bone. The four bold bombe sides are inlaid with eight panels with a profusion of flowery vines and display overall of tulips. The top and bottom edge are highlighted with strong metal mouldings as are the four corners with shaped floral engraved cornerstone panels. The escutcheon to the lock is shaped in an armorial fashion with a royal coronet above.
