Eric PILLOT, born in 1968, calls Paris his home and workplace. His remarkable photographic journey has been adorned with several prestigious awards, particularly in recognition of his compelling series titled "In Situ."
His accolades include the HSBC Prize in 2012, followed by the Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Photography Award, bestowed by the Beaux-Arts Academy in Paris in 2014. This honor provided him with the means to pursue his project "In Situ - US," which ultimately culminated in an exhibition at the l'Institut de France in November 2015. In 2016, Eric PILLOT was honored with the Beaux-Arts Fair Prize, and a selection of his photographs found a home at the Louvre Carrousel.
Eric's journey into photography was a distinct one, emerging after he completed his studies at the Polytechnique School and attained qualifications as a mathematics instructor. Prior to delving into the art of photography, he enjoyed a successful career as an engineer.
For several years now, Eric PILLOT has dedicated himself to exploring the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, a realm ripe with imaginative possibilities. His work has given rise to multiple series, initially focused on the depiction of animals captured in a poetic manner amid the settings of various zoos across Europe and the United States. He began in black and white and continued in color, a journey ongoing in the "In Situ" series. Additionally, he has expressed a keen interest in landscapes, as evident in his "Horizons" series.
"Parois," his fourth monograph, represents a return to the world of color in his artistry. Eric's photographs have not only been the subject of numerous publications and articles in France and abroad but have also graced the walls of approximately sixty solo and collective exhibitions across Europe, Asia, the United States, and Australia since 2008.
Eric PILLOT's artistic creations gained recognition during the Gacilly Photo Festival in Brittany in 2017, as well as at the Circulation(s) Festival in Moscow, the Photo Phnom Penh Festival, and within the Orangerie of Sens Museum. Notably, his works adorned the symbolic wall of the France Embassy.
In 2016, the Hermès Foundation added seven of his artworks to its contemporary photography collection, displaying them at its "La Piscine" space on rue de Sèvres in Paris.
