Robert Lee Neal (American, 1916-1987)
Kitchen Still Life, Dayton, Ohio, ca. 1940-45
Oil on masonite, 16 x 20 inches
Signed lower right: Robert Neal
African American artist, Robert Lee Neal, assisted his mentor Hale Woodruff on the Amistad Murals at Talladega College in Alabama. He was favorably mentioned in important exhibitions of Contemporary African American Artists in 1939 and 1940. He moved to Dayton, OH in 1940 where he lived until his death in 1987. -
