Description
An Italian Neoclassical giltwood mirror with original mercury plates; rectangular mirror plate with a carved inner slip and a mirrored border divided by beaded rosettes; a husk carved frame surmounted by swag with ribbon and medallion cresting featuring a carved relief profile of Augustus Caesar, the first Roman Emperor, with aquiline / Roman nose and laurel wreath on his head; a pair of finials and drum elements. The apron featuring scrolls & ribbon, and dragonfly carvings and foliate elements
