    Elegant, stylish French / Belgian Art Deco vanity chair in Sycamore wood by Van der Borcht Freres, circa 1925-1930. The piece has an exquisite form highlighted by the sloped, oval, barrel back which is supported by contrasting front and rear saber form legs. A timeless, comfortable work of art

    The influence of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann can be seen in this piece. Ruhlmann was a key figure in the French Art Deco movement, he used the finest materials and craftsmanship while designing sleek, minimal, sculptural forms. Ruhlmann and Van Der Borcht Freres became symbols of luxury and modernity in France and Belgium respectively.
