Vernacular Ladder Back Chair
-
Description
Vernacular ladder back chair in birch with later rush seat. Created in the 19th century with unusual decorative turned finial ears atop the back's stiles. Wonderfully slightly misshapened bentwood back cross rails. Seat has good age but probably is not original. Chair was shortened at some point in its part (probably due to damage at its foot). Now makes the perfect fireside chair or a decorative accent piece. Possibly Swedish in origin.
