ROBERT MARINELLI IS AN ACCOMPLISHED AMERICAN DESIGNER SPECIALIZING IN CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE, ARCHITECTURAL RENOVATIONS AND INTERIOR DESIGN. HE MAINTAINS STUDIOS IN NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES.

BORN AND RAISED IN NEW YORK, ROBERT’S EDUCATION INCLUDES STUDYING LITERATURE IN BOSTON, ART & ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY IN LONDON, AND PARIS. EARLY IN HIS CAREER, HE LIVED IN TOKYO AND ISTANBUL, WHERE HE WORKED WITH PROMINENT ARCHITECTURAL AND DEVELOPMENT COMPANIES ON SPECIALIZED RETAIL AND HOSPITALITY PROJECTS. HE FREQUENTED MANY WORKSHOPS WHERE HE COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL ARTISANS ON PRIVATE DESIGN COMMISSIONS. HIS DIVERSE STUDIES AND EARLY TRAVEL EXPERIENCES EXPOSED HIM TO DIVERGING CREATIVE INFLUENCES THAT CONTINUE TO INFORM HIS VISUAL AESTHETIC AND DESIGNS TO THIS DAY. MARINELLI RETURNED TO NEW YORK AND LAUNCHED HIS FIRST FURNITURE COLLECTION THROUGH SHOWROOMS IN WASHINGTON, SAN FRANCISCO, AND LONDON. HE THEN OPENED HIS NAMESAKE GALLERY AND INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO IN MANHATTAN’S MEATPACKING DISTRICT. ONE OF THE FIRST VISIONARIES TO OPEN A RETAIL / ART SPACE IN THE THEN UNDISCOVERED NEIGHBORHOOD, HE SHOWCASED HIS MODERN FURNITURE COLLECTION ALONGSIDE HIGHLY CURATED SELECTION OF LIGHTING, OBJECTS, TEXTILES AND ART. THE GALLERY QUICKLY BECAME A DOWNTOWN DESTINATION WHERE DESIGN, FASHION AND ART COULD ENGAGE IN A DYNAMIC DIALOGUE.

CONCEIVED AS A COMPILATION THAT REJECTS A MONOLITHIC AESTHETIC NARRATIVE, MARINELLI’S FURNITURE COLLECTIONS EMBRACE AN ECLECTIC ARRAY OF IDEAS REFLECTING HIS DISPARATE ARTISTIC INSPIRATIONS. EMPLOYING A VIGOROUS, MODERNIST VISION, HE DESIGNS CONTEMPORARY FURNISHINGS THAT HAVE A COMPELLING VINTAGE QUALITY AND DRAW UPON VARIOUS HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL REFERENCES. BY COMBINING TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNIQUES, HE HIGHLIGHTS THE SYNERGY BETWEEN THE MATERIALS AND THE FINISHES EMPLOYED. HE ENGAGES AND OVERSEES ALL ASPECTS OF THE PRODUCTION PROCESS AND COLLABORATES CLOSELY WITH HIS TEAM OF ARTISANS TO CREATE FURNISHINGS THAT HAVE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF QUALITY AND REFLECT EACH COLLECTOR’S PERSONALITY AND UNIQUE LIFE EXPERIENCE.
