ROBERT MARINELLI
AS A FURNITURE DESIGNER, FORM, FUNCTION AND A DIVERSITY OF AESTHETIC AND HISTORICAL INSPIRATIONS, ARE THE BUILDING PRINCIPLES OF ROBERT MARINELLI’S WORK.
ROBERT STUDIED ART, ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY AND DESIGN IN THE UNITED STATES AND EUROPE AND LATER MOVED TO TOKYO WHERE HE WORKED ON SPECIALIZED DESIGN PROJECTS. HE TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY, FREQUENTING WORKSHOPS WHERE HE COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL ARTISANS ON PRIVATE DESIGN COMMISSIONS. HIS LIFELONG PASSION FOR THE ARTS, ARCHITECTURAL FORMS AND COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING MASTER CRAFTSMAN IMBUE HIS PIECES WITH A VOCABULARY OF BOTH LUXURIOUS AND NATURAL, SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS, HEIGHTENING THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE FORM AS A WHOLE AND ITS COMPONENT PARTS.
ROBERT CONCEIVES PIECES THAT HAVE AN ANTIQUE QUALITY, WITH A CHARISMATIC, MODERNIST INTERPRETATION. BOTH CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY, ROBERT’S WORK DOES NOT CONFORM TO A FORMULAIC REPERTOIRE, BUT RESONATES WITH AN EVER EVOLVING CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVENESS WHICH ENLIVEN TRADITIONAL, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTS.
