An antique Northwest Persian runner. Woven somewhere close to the Caucasus in the northwest Persian border area, this antique runner has an ivory border of variously colored sawtooth diamonds (ashiks). The royal blue field is ornamented by giant, geometric palmettes, small boxes with four radiating flowers, Memling guls, small animals and abstract rosettes. They don’t make them like this anymore.
