Description
A wonderful breakfront bookcase made for Sir Oliver Simmonds in 1937, a pioneering British aeronautical designer who was knighted for his work. This breakfront bookcase was made under the aegis of Phillips of Hitchins, one of the top dealers of English antique furniture before and after the Second World War. Interestingly, there are carved trophies on the four cabinet doors representing early balloon flights, probably by Montgolfier.
