George Nelson for Herman Miller Thin-Edge Dressers in Rosewood & Porcelain, Pair
-
Description
The great George Nelson left us with a massive portfolio of forward thinking design which Herman Miller has largely kept alive to this day. Nelson became design director for Herman Miller after the passing of the famed Gilbert Rohde. It was previous versions of this now well known “Thin-Edge” series which caught the eye of Herman Miller founder D.J. De Pree. Nelson would go on to work for Herman Miller developing countless designs for 25 years, included in his body of work are these Thin-Edge Series Dressers in Rosewood.
Nelson’s dressers embody the best of the Mid-Century design movement, from materiality to proportion. His Thin-Edge series was an assemblage of the finest materials of the time; Aluminum, Porcelain, and the highly sought after Rosewood which is now a protected species. The collection’s name comes from its iconic thin frame around its face which furthers the diminutive quality of these dressers. Storage space is ample with three generous drawers which are accessed by way of the gloss-finished porcelain pulls. Each dresser sits atop four petite yet durable cast aluminum legs. The entire design is a conversation of materials executed in a way only George Nelson could do.
The Object Refinery team has restored this pair of George Nelson Thin-Edge Dressers. We've maintained the natural Rosewood color while celebrating their rich grain. Each cast aluminum leg has been polished to restore brilliance. These dressers are a part of a larger George Nelson for Herman Miller Thin-Edge set comprised of a pair of Nightstands and a Gentleman's Chest, please feel free to further explore this collection and contact us with any questions. -

Stories exist in many forms, we see them in objects. The aesthetic of those before us is passed down through their surviving creations. These are the objects we search for; to preserve, refine, & continue the story. Object Refinery combines design obsession, fine craftsmanship, and a love for history in our worldwide search for objects. Based in Connecticut, USA; we partner with a network of local artisans to restore and refine our findings before passing them on to the next collector.
