Important English silver flatware service by Francis Higgins II
English, 1840
Knives: Height 20cm, width 2cm, depth 1cm
Forks: Height 16.5cm, width 2cm, depth 1cm
This superb flatware service was crafted by the esteemed silversmith Francis Higgins II, celebrated as one of the leading craftsmen in silver working during the Victorian period. The silver blade of each knife is decorated with relief motifs of scrolling flowers and foliage. The knives are hallmarked, featuring the maker’s mark of Francis Higgins II, standard London silver marks, as well as date letters.
