Bitossi Kwan Yin Buddha Bank, Ceramic, Blue Paisley, Signed. A beautiful and calming female Buddha glazed in a royal blue, with a hint of green in her hair, and having a square base decorated with psychedelic 60's abstract paisley embellishments. Signed on the underside "69/27 Italy". This Kwan was intended to be a bank and has an opening for coins, at the top of her head, and a plastic stopper on the underside.
According to one legend, Kwan Yin was an Indian Princess who rejected marriage and the good life in order to become a truly enlightened human being. She is known as the Goddess of mercy and compassion. It is believed that to have a picture or statue of Kwan Yin in one's home brings good luck and protection to the household. -
