ARTHUR CARTER

Arthur Carter is a contemporary American artist, known for his sculpture, painting, and printmaking. He was born in 1931 in New York City and attended Wesleyan University, where he received his bachelor's degree in economics.
 
Carter is best known for his abstract geometric sculptures made of steel, bronze, and other materials. His sculptures often explore themes of balance, movement, and tension, and are characterized by their intricate interlocking shapes and the precision of their construction.
 
In addition to his sculpture work, Carter is also a painter and printmaker, producing abstract compositions that share a similar visual language with his sculpture. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City.
 
Carter is also a successful businessman, having founded several financial and media companies. He is the founder of The New York Observer, a weekly newspaper based in New York City, and has been a major philanthropist, donating to several causes related to education, the arts, and the environment.
