Description
COCKS, CH.; FÉRET, ÉDOUARD.
Bordeaux et ses Vins Classés par Ordre de Merite.
Troisème édition, refondue et augmentée...
Stock Code 103538
Paris & Bordeaux, G. Masson; Féret & fils, 1874
£550
The third edition of this famous guide to the vineyards and wines of Bordeaux, which remains the benchmark for Bordeaux wines today. The author created a classification process for red and white wines, in order of merit and not, importantly in alphabetical order. This edition is charmingly illustrated throughout with images of the châteaux. The cloth is plain and rather workman-like, definitely contemporary, but possibly not the original - issues are recorded in wrappers, which presumably would have been replaced by the buyer in the binding of their choice. -
