Carved pine, red and white painted highlights, original varnish finish. “An immigrant from barmen, Germany, Walter Ketzler arrived in New York in 1922 to work as a sign and interior painter in Brooklyn. By 1955, he was working Portsmouth and living in Eliot, Maine. As a skilled decorator and cabinetmaker, Ketzler is known to have carved his inspired copies of Bellamy eagles as gifts for clients…” James Craig, author of American Eagles: The Bold Art and Brash Life of Jim Haley Bellamy. -
