So rare and so very lovely. With the signature brass detailing of Paavo Tynell, this floor lamp made by Idman OY in the 1950s is absolutely exquisite. This is an amazing example of Tynell's fascination with nature - the curvature is reminiscent of a bowing flower with a new, handmade pleated silk shade. The Finns are simply the best when it comes to post-war lighting design (it gets dark up there). Completely restored and wired for US.

Design attributed to Paavo Tynell for Idman OY, No. 60588.
Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) was an industrial designer, known as the great pioneer of Finnish lighting design and “the man who illuminated Finland”. A master craftsman himself, Tynell’s designs were derivative of a traditional aesthetic with a modern sensibility. Marked by delicacy and softness, his most famous forms echo the structures of nature.
