AFRA & TOBIA SCARPA SET OF FOUR MONK CHAIRS FOR MOLTENI, CIRCA 1974
-
Description
The particular feature of this model is the support structure composed of two equal trestles in solid wood attached to shaped metal tubing, creating a single element for the seat and back. The two structural parts are joined by two pairs of bolts for each trestle, with the decorative touch of large hubs in burnished steel facilitating the connection to the solid wood. The trestles were made with composite elements, alternating two external layers in light wood. The black leather has no tears or rips and has been cleaned and waxed. Very very good vintage condition. Extremely comfortable and architectural.

Message from Seller:
Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States. Postwar design has been the focus for 18 yrs and we also look forward to new design that crosses boundaries and dialogues as well to the past
