Original oil on canvas painting of Abisko, Sweden by the well known artist, Kjell Leander-Engstrom of Sweden. Signed lower left. Signed, titled and dated verso 1965. Notice of artist authenticity attracted verso. See photo attached. Condition is excellent. The painting is framed with a rounded silver leaf original frame in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 30.5 by 34.5 inches
Artist biography:
Kjell Leander Engström was born March 4, 1914. He was a Swedish painter.
He studied at the Konstakademien (Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm and on private study trips to France, Spain and Italy. He worked primarily in oil and is best known for his landscape paintings, often from Lapland, Sweden and Corsica. He also painted still life works.
Engström came from artistic family - his father was the artist Per Leander Engström (1886-1927). His twin brother Tord Leander Engström (1914-1985) was also an artist. His son Styrbjörn Leander-Engström was also an artist.
Examples of Engström’s work is held in the public collection of the Norrköping Art Museum.
Engström passed away at the age of 64 on February 23, 1979 in Kåseberga in Österlen. He is buried in Tornehamn's cemetery, also called Rallarekyrkogården. -
