Sendai Tansu, Meiji Period
-
Description
This is a very good example of a Meiji Period Sendai Tansu in Keyaki wood. This one-part tansu dates to c. 1880 and is in very good overall condition as it retains all of its original iron work, the front iron locking bar and hardware, plus its original keys. The beautifully grained keyaki wood is in overall very good condition and showing normal wear to the the original lacquer. We have not noted any restorations and have simply cleaned and applied two coats of hard paste wax to bring out the beauty of the wood.
