Robert and Jean Cloutier ceramic steel coffee table 1950s
-
Description
Robert and Jean Cloutier were ceramicists who viewed their work as art, with functionality as perhaps a secondary purpose. The ceramic table surface made in enamelled lava stone, with glass inclusions, explodes with warm colors. Organic-feeling blocks of colors like rust red, hot orange, and earthy brown form an eye-catching pattern across the top. Splattered throughout are colored craters, filled with glass, like those caused by a volcanic eruption. The brushed steel legs and structure complement the vibrant energy of the piece with its industrial look. A true standout from the Cloutier brothers, this coffee table is a beautiful find. It’s been fully cleaned, and is found in a great vintage condition. This coffee table can be converted into an artwork to hang on the wall, legs being removable.
