Risto Halme
Finnish, 1934
Risto Halme is a Finnish designer and artist who was born in 1946 in Helsinki, Finland. He studied furniture design at the Lahti Institute of Design and later went on to study industrial design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (now known as Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture).
Halme has worked as a designer for several Finnish furniture companies, including Isku, Inno, and Mobel. He has also worked as a teacher of furniture design and served as a professor of industrial design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
Halme is known for his minimalist and functionalist designs, which are characterized by their clean lines and attention to detail. Some of his notable works include the "Kontuu" chair for Inno and the "Soho" sofa for Isku.
In addition to his work as a designer, Halme is also a well-known artist, and his paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in several galleries and museums in Finland and abroad.
