Bernd Koberling
German
Bernd Koberling is a contemporary German painter and sculptor born on September 1, 1938, in Berlin, Germany. He is known for his abstract paintings and sculptures that explore the relationship between color and form.
Koberling studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hamburg University of Fine Arts, and has since exhibited his work extensively in Germany and internationally. He has had solo exhibitions at prestigious institutions such as the Nationalgalerie Berlin and the Museum Ludwig in Cologne.
Koberling's paintings often feature geometric shapes and bold, vibrant colors. He is interested in the way colors interact with one another, and his paintings often have a sense of movement and rhythm. His sculptures are similarly abstract, and often incorporate materials such as wood and steel.
Koberling has been recognized for his contributions to the arts with numerous awards, including the Berlin Art Prize in 1981 and the Goslarer Kaiserring in 2001. He continues to create art today and is considered one of the leading contemporary artists in Germany.
