Charlie Easton

British, 1970
Charlie Easton hails from a lineage of British artists and relocated to Canada in 2006, where he found inspiration in the breathtaking landscapes that captivated the Group of Seven.
As a prolific painter specializing in landscapes and seascapes, Charlie works with both oils and acrylics. His award-winning art is represented in galleries across North America and Europe, where he frequently holds solo exhibitions.
Charlie is a Senior Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (SFCA) and has pursued his studies at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art and Emily Carr University. In 2024, he will share his expertise as a faculty member at the Plein Air Convention, the largest international gathering of artists.
Based in Vancouver, Charlie's passion lies in painting en plein air throughout British Columbia, Alberta, California, and beyond. He has also enjoyed artist residencies in Haida Gwaii with The Haida Nation and Parks Canada, as well as in Banff and Whistler.
Charlie believes, “The closer I can get to my subject—both physically and mentally—the more honest and impactful my paintings become. I want viewers to come hiking with me, ski by my side, and experience the stunning vistas that ignite my passion for life.”
He is particularly fascinated by the concept of focus: how the eye and mind latch onto a few powerful elements within a landscape to convey a simplified yet evocative sense of place.
“I strive to channel all my energy into capturing these essential elements. Any distraction from the core story is not worth my time. My painting style reflects my life motto: Maximum fun, minimum fuss.”
