Cecilia Arrospide is a Peruvian artist whose vibrant works draw inspiration from the stunning landscapes of her homeland. Known for her colorful collages, abstract paintings, and black-and-white ink drawings, Cecilia infuses her art with a deep love of color, reflecting her belief in "painting for pleasure."
From an early age, Cecilia nurtured her passion for art, creating drawings for her classmates. She furthered her artistic education during her studies at the Catholic University of Peru, where she focused on literature while also delving into art history and honing her skills through private sessions with accomplished painters. Although she took time to raise her children, she remained active in the art community, attending painting classes multiple times a week.
Cecilia held her first solo exhibition in 1998, and its success inspired her to continue showcasing her work every two years. In 2009, she began exploring collages, expanding her artistic repertoire. Her recent series, such as “Reflejos” and “The Ocean, the Waves,” highlight her connection to nature, particularly the ocean, and reveal her innate understanding of color.
Cecilia's travels and exposure to different cultures have significantly influenced her work. Visits to museums in Paris and Barcelona sparked new ideas, leading her to incorporate collage techniques and explore themes of womanhood in her ink drawings. She believes that creativity can be cultivated, emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication.
