Cleo Baldon X-Benches, Oak, Leather
-
Description
Cleo Baldon X-benches, black wrought iron, oak and leather. Medium scale, handsome, California Modern benches with black leather seat cushions, blackened wrought iron X-form frames, burnished oak dowels, and black metal seating straps.
Baldon was a leading Southern California architect and swimming pool designer whose furniture married the sleek minimalism of modernist design with materials reminiscent of the region’s Spanish Colonial heritage. I had the privilege to speak with Baldon about her designs in 2014, shortly before she died; she remarked that the X-bench was her "favorite thing". -
