French 19th Century Tall Case Clock
-
Description
This French 19th Century banjo shaped case clock is an eye catching piece in any space. Topped by an ornately carved cornice above the dial faced door. Supported by an intricate brass repousse frontage, the dial face displays hand painted roman numerals as well as “Chevalley, Mouilleron-en-Pareds” to indicate the maker and origin. Shapley and well ornamented, the frame features a faux bois finish and floral designs throughout. The repousse pendulum is detailed with a pastoral scene and floral elements. Glass is original. Because of how particular longcase clocks are, you will want to have a professional come and make sure it’s level and show you how to properly wind it. Standing right at 8’ tall, it will add great presence to interiors with extra-high ceilings. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look.
