Set of Eight Mid-century Dining Chairs in White Leather by Mario Bellini, Brazil
-
Description
The upholstery is made up of different leather parts, processed manually one by one and then sewn into a single piece, which is fitted over a metal skeleton and closed with zippers, like a tailored suit. All chairs have the brandmark De Couro of Brazil underneath the seat.
As Mario Bellini described once about his chairs: “A sewn leather dress is mounted on the steel frame, stretched like skin over a skeleton, in a relationship of structural and organic symbiosis."
This set of dining chairs effortlessly flexes into any Mid-Century Modern, modern, Danish modern or contemporary environment. This piece would also look wonderful in a boho chic, or Hollywood Regency styled home as well.
The original leather has been re-conditioned however, all chairs have minor damages such as scratches or stains. This mid-century set is available today and is sold as a set of 8.
Mario Bellini (1935) is one of the most influential and innovative contemporary architects. Starting in the early 1960s working on urban planning, he became one of the most critical product and furniture designers of the 20th century. He won 8 Compasso d'Oro and prestigious architecture awards. The rediscovered "Camaleonda" modular sofa is maybe his most iconic piece.
