Description
Available today, this Mid-Century Modern bench, designed by Jorge Jabour Mauad for Móveis Cantu in Brazil, is a showstopper! The bench is entirely made in Brazilian rosewood (also known as jacaranda) and consists of two legs, six long slats, and delicate wood buttons. The versatile piece can work as a bench or as a coffee table as is displayed in the showroom next to a Green Sofa by Sergio Rodrigues and two Canoa armchairs by Liceu de Artes e Oficios. This effortlessly sleek bench can blend into almost any type of contemporary, Mid-Century Modern, boho chic, or modern environment. A beautiful piece like this, will add a touch of Mid-Century Modern swagger to any home!
The rosewood has been refinished and besides the marks of age in the legs, the bench is in an excellent state. Brazilian rosewood is perhaps one of the most beautiful woods in the world. It is regarded as one of the finest tone woods; hard, stiff, and highly resonant. However, extensive logging over the past three centuries has virtually eliminated this tree from the Brazilian forests, so that today it is not supposed to be logged. The only Material that can be sold legally is old stock. By owning a vintage piece made of old jacaranda, you’re not only getting a beautiful collectible, but also helping this species to recuperate.
