Description
Discover the exquisite mid-century Brazilian modern armchair crafted by John Graz in the 1950s, available today! This stunning chair showcases a caviuna hardwood frame and a comfortable beige fabric seat. Boasting a low seat and an ergonomically angled backrest, it offers unparalleled comfort. Drawing inspiration from the iconic features of Brazilian modern furniture, such as the use of Brazilian hardwood, sleek profile, angled seats, and minimalist design, this versatile chair seamlessly complements any home decor style. A valuable addition to any mid-century modern collection, it is meticulously refurbished, with the seats expertly reupholstered to ensure excellent condition.
John Graz, a prominent figure in architecture, decoration, and design, studied at the Geneva School of Fine Arts in 1910. He arrived in Brazil in 1920, married in São Paulo, and showcased his artworks at the 1922 Modern Art Week. Graz's contributions include numerous stained glass windows, furniture designs, and decorative pieces. Alongside Regina and Antonio Gomide, he introduced the art deco style in São Paulo. Graz collaborated with Gregori Warchavchik, decorating houses designed by the Russian architect. Notably, in 1925, he presented innovative tubular furniture in São Paulo, featuring metallic pipes and laminated wood with geometric shapes. Despite his technical expertise, Graz faced challenges in mass-producing his designs due to limitations in the Brazilian industry at the time.
