"Life Force" Coffee Table by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne
-
Description
A stunning and beautifully crafted work of art that provokes thought; Sculpture and function meet in this one-off, studio made coffee table in patinated and cast bronze, by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, titled "Life Force".
Its organically shaped and curving silhouette is adorned with casted reliefs of various bronze figures along its sides, and has an impressively patinated bronze top. The forms, disposition, and color gradation of the figures convey elegant movement and the ascending flow of their arrangement seem to illustrate the concept of connectedness.
The depths in the table's patination and its overall use of curves, emphasize not only the artists' skill level and creativity, but perhaps the idea that contrasts are necessary in helping us discern and understand life's vitality.
The table sits atop castors and is signed. -
