Pair Green Glazed Chinese Garden Stools, c. 1930-1960
-
Description
This is an outstanding pair of early to mid-20th century Chinese garden stools. The intense mottled green drip glaze of the stools combined with the perfect level of natural patina would make these stools the focal point of any room from mid-century to period design; they would work equally well inside or in an outdoor space. The stools are in overall very good condition: there are several firing faults which are normal and anticipated in this type of semi-rustic pottery. The unglazed spots (shown in photos) are a result of firing when pieces touch each other while in the kiln and are not considered to be defects. The Chinese incised characters designate the Sichuan Province origin of the stools.
