Alexander Girard for Braniff Airlines Hexagon Side Table

$ 7,995
  • Description
    Alongside his contemporaries Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, Alexander Girard was a prominent figure in postwar US design. In a departure from the rather austere Modernist aesthetic that preceded him, he brought a playfulness through his love of colour, texture and pattern.

    His 1967 Hexagonal table is a fine example of this exuberance. Made from die-cast aluminium, it features a polished tabletop with a three-dimensional triangular pattern carved into the surface. When light shines on to the surface, it reflects a geometric motif on to nearby walls. Four splayed legs add stability.

    This is believed to be the recently released in very limited edition from Vitra, and in great condition with minimal wears.
