Linda Lynch
American
Linda Lynch, an artist immersed in the rich landscapes of New Mexico, draws inspiration from her roots in far west Texas, where her family has thrived amidst the solitude of the high Chihuahuan desert. Over the course of three decades, this distinctive landscape has been a driving force behind Lynch's artistic endeavors.
Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing and printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, Lynch's artistic journey has taken her from the vibrant art scene of New York City to the landscapes of Africa. Beyond her artistic pursuits, she has demonstrated a commitment to community impact by founding two nonprofit organizations—one dedicated to environmental conservation in west Texas and another focused on teaching literacy through visual art in under-served elementary schools near her New Mexico studio.
Lynch's artistic footprint extends across the United States with a robust history of group exhibitions. Additionally, she has showcased her solo exhibitions in diverse cities such as El Paso, Texas, Chihuahua City, Mexico, and Johannesburg, South Africa. Her work graces numerous private and public collections, including prestigious institutions like the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Brooklyn Museum, Harvard University Art Museums, Yale University Art Gallery, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the University of California at Los Angeles Hammer Museum, and the Menil Collection, Houston.
While rooted in New Mexico, Lynch's artistic exploration knows no bounds. Her frequent travels are dedicated to delving into issues of landscape, identity, and abstraction, themes deeply embedded in her captivating works on paper.
