Description
An exceptional brass and steel Grasshopper table created by the renowned French Sculptor and Artist, Francois Melin in the 1970s'. The table has been hand crafted by Melin using individual pieces of brass, shaped to form the various sections of the Grasshopper, and then fused together to bring the creation to life, the body also supports the smoked glass top that is also present.
Francois Melin is considered to be one of the most important and influential artists/sculptors of his generation and sits alongside the likes of Richard & Isabelle Faure, Henri Fernandez and Jaques Duval-Brasseur. His works are in huge demand and are hard to find on the open market, this piece in particular is extremely rare and a much sought after piece by collectors of high end Brutalist sculpture and furniture.
The smoked glass top is a replacement and has a couple of small chips to the bottom and some scratch marks on the top.
Dimensions- 124cm length, 72cm width, 40cm height (inc top).
Dimensions excluding the top - 106cm Length, 90cm Width, 35cm Height
Please note the price shown is for the table base only. In order to keep the cost of shipping down we will only send the table base, if you did require us to ship the glass top, please let us know in advance, this will greatly increase the shipping cost though as the item would need to be sent freight, and the glass top will not be covered by the item insurance. -
