Description
This custom Townsend2 coffee table is made of solid white oak with a pigmented conversion varnish (lacquer) finish. The custom color was matched to Benjamin Moore's "Hale Navy" and mixed in this super-durable finish that allows the prominent texture of the oak grain to show. The table base is hand-sculpted and constructed with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. The slightly less than 1" thick elliptical top is undercut with a steep bevel around the underside of its perimeter to give it a thin, light appearance.
This table is based on my original, much narrower, Townsend coffee table which has proven very adaptable to a variety of customized sizes. In addition to custom sizes, I'm able to produce a Townsend2 in a variety of woods and finishes. Please contact me to discuss.
