Description
This Qing Dynasty hand-made export porcelain bulbous-shaped vase with applied handles dates from the mid-19th century when the Empress Dowager Cixi began her sway over China. The hand-painted decoration in underglaze blue depicts peonies and a pheonix emerging from an egg, which in turn represent the happiness of prosperity and the Empress Dowager herself. The vase has two applied porcelain floral-decorated underglaze blue handles on its neck. The vintage Chinese export porcelain finial also depicts a phoenix in underglaze blue. The vase has been drilled in the base to accommodate electrical wiring, and the top is filled with a brass cap holding a brass lightbulb socket and a brass harp, and it is topped with the old porcelain finial. The lamp sits on a round mid-20th century Chinese wooden stand. The overall dimensions are 34"H from the bottom of the stand to the top of the finial. The actual dimensions of the vase are listed below. There is no lampshade; you can add one in your own personal style.
